The Automotive Technology program at EMCC is designed to meet the needs of local and
national industry partners. Our program emphasizes thorough knowledge and understanding
of automotive systems and components, strong computer skills, mechanical aptitude,
manual dexterity, and excellent problem solving skills. Potential employers include
new car dealerships, independent repair shops, fleet repair shops, truck/equipment
repair shops, assembly plants, small engine/ATV repair shops and parts retailers.
Interested students should submit an electronic application available
here, as well as a copy of their high school transcript. Additionally, all program participants
must take the WorkKeys Assessment and obtain a Silver Certification or higher prior
to beginning coursework. This assessment is available at our office and is administered
on an on-demand basis.
Students in this program are required to furnish their own set of tools and should
have them no later than the third week of their first semester. A tool list will be
supplied to the student at registration. Each student will be responsible for purchasing
a uniform shirt to be worn while in class. Details will be provided by the program
instructor.
Students will have the opportunity to earn various professional certifications through
the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
