EMCC AND MSU PARTNER TO OFFER FREE ELECTRICAL TRAINING TO MEN AT 'THE MISSION'

Students in East Mississippi Community College’s Construction Engineering Technology class frame walls for a free Commercial/Residential Electrical training program the college will offer to men in a residential treatment facility in West Point.

East Mississippi Community College and Mississippi State University, key stakeholders in the SmartTech Mississippi project, have launched a pilot program to provide free noncredit electrical training to men at The Mission, a faith-based residential treatment program in West Point that assists those seeking to make positive changes in their lives.

The main entrance to the Golden Triangle campus has been relocated to the westernmost part of the property at the road that leads to the student union. New signage and fencing have also been installed.

Multiple capital improvement projects are under way on East Mississippi Community College's Scooba and Golden Triangle campuses, with others in the works. They range from new student housing on the Scooba campus to major sidewalk additions and an expanded footprint for Division of Nursing and Health Sciences programs on both campuses, to name a few things. More


East Mississippi Community College’s enrollment for the spring of 2024-25 rose by a healthy 13.1 percent, far higher than the statewide average of 6.4 percent for all of Mississippi’s community colleges.

An open house and ribbon cutting ceremony took place Jan. 29 at The Communiversity to highlight a partnership between East Mississippi Community College and Mississippi State University to provide new workforce services to industries and additional training opportunities to area residents. More
