The Golden Triangle Early College High School on East Mississippi Community College’s Golden Triangle campus conducted a drive-through commencement ceremony May 16.
Forty-four seniors qualified to participate in the graduation that took place outside EMCC’s Communversity. The processional consisted of a line of cars containing the graduates and their friends and family members.
The graduates got out of the cars to pick up their diplomas from a table set up outside for the event. GTECHS faculty and staff were there to cheer the graduates on during the event.
EMCC President Dr. Scott Alsobrooks greeted the students in a prerecorded message and EMCC Vice President of the Golden Triangle Campus Dr. Paul Miller gave the graduation address. GTECHS Principal Jill Savely presented the class and the GTECHS staff helped with the ceremony and bestowing of diplomas.
Students enrolled at GTECHS also take courses at EMCC. Twenty-eight of the 44 GTECHS graduates are on track to receive a one-year technical certificate or associate’s degree from EMCC during the college’s May 20 commencement exercise.
