The Early Childhood Academy on East Mississippi Community College’s Golden Triangle campus will give away free school supplies to children in kindergarten through third grades Tuesday, July 30, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. during a Back to School Bash.

The event will take place in room 130 of the Douglas Building. Parents will be provided one backpack for each age-appropriate child filled with school supplies, such as markers, composition notebooks, glue sticks and blunt scissors. Gifts will also be presented to teachers who attend.

Refreshments will be served.

“We encourage everyone to come out, learn about our programs and enjoy an afternoon of fun,” Early Childhood Academy Research and Referral Center Associate Michelle Cleveland said.

The ECA provides free resources to parents, caregivers and childcare providers, as well as referral services and children’s toys and books that can be checked out. Anyone can make use of available services even though the program’s main focus is to ensure children up to 5 years of age are prepared to enter kindergarten.

ECA Coach and Professional Development Specialists Carolyn Harris and Jennifer Bell provide professional development training for childcare providers on topics such as health and safety, lesson plan development and professionalism.

Story Time takes place Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
