Qualifications for "ACADEMIC" dual credit/enrollment students.

- Must be classified as a junior or senior OR score a minimum composite ACT score of
30 or above or the equivalent SAT score.
- Have a 3.0 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
- Have a recommendation letter from your principal/counselor to participate. (This is
a standard form provided by EMCC to the principal/counselor). For homeschool students,
parent/guardian must request the form on an individual basis.
- You must attend high school in one of the following counties: Clay, Kemper, Lauderdale,
Lowndes, Noxubee or Oktibbeha.
Qualifications for "CAREER-TECHNICAL" dual credit/enrollment students.

is a standard form provided by EMCC to the principal/counselor or CTE instructor).
What are the steps for admission?

- Next, set up your login and password information.
- Complete application for admission. Select Dual Enrollment as your major, instead of nursing, athletics, liberal arts
etc.
How do I register?

- See your high school counselor about needed documents, which include: high school
transcript, including ACT score; and a letter of recommendation from your principal/counselor.
Your counselor will help you register.
- Home-schooled students should bring a notarized transcript and letter of recommendation.
Letters of recommendation can be from your parent or home school representative.
- Many of our classes have pre-requisites that must be met before registering.
- English Composition I- must score a 17 or higher on the ACT, English sub-score; or
take the Accuplacer Next Generation and score 502-600
- English Composition II-must score a grade of “C” or higher in English Composition

- College Algebra-must score a 19 or higher on the ACT, math sub-score; or an ACCUPLACER
QAS Score of 231-253
- Human and Anatomy Physiology I-ACT Composite of 20 or higher or pass any 4-hour BIO
course with a “C” or better
- Public Speaking-ACT sub score of 17 in English; or an Accuplacer Next Generation score
of 502-600
- Dual enrolled students may not enroll in intermediate courses for English or Math.
What is the cost?

- $40 per credit hour for academic students; $165 per credit hour for CTE students
- Additional fees for e-books are automatically billed with the cost of the class.
- Tuition may be subject to change in subsequent academic years.
How do I access My Textbooks?

- Textbooks are automatically billed to your account. Depending on the school district,
some districts pay for them, some do not. Our business office works with your school
district to determine this.
- Your textbooks will automatically show up as eBooks within Canvas. Your instructor
should give you details at the beginning of class explaining how to best access these
books.
How do I pay for my classes?

- Contact the EMCC Business Office at 662.243.1906 to pay over the telephone.
- Pay in person at one of our campuses.
- Pay through your Leo student account.
Will my dual credit/enrolled classes transfer?

- Credit earned through Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit is recorded on your college transcript
and may be released to another institution or used for college graduation requirements
only after students have received high school diplomas. You will need to check with
the institution you plan to enter after high school graduation to see if your Dual
Enrollment/Dual Credit classes will transfer.
