Launch Pad

The Launch Pad provides free classes to adults who are ready to open doors to new opportunities and careers by improving the academic skills needed to earn the following:

  • Mississippi High School Equivalency Diploma and Career Readiness Certification
  • Higher scores on college or workforce training entry exams,
  • Industry employment or career advancement by achieving target assessment scores 
  • And/Or Career Readiness Certification (CRC).

The Launch Pad’s resources are provided through a variety of funding sources and training services, offering multiple options and pathways for achieving goals at no cost to students.

The Launch Pad can help you make the transition into an academic classes, technical training or employment. We offer free courses for adults needing to refresh or improve basic reading, math and language skills for:

  • Gaining or improving employment    
  • Enrolling in job training    
  • Enrolling in college    
  • Studying for the GED or ACT test
  • Earning a high school equivalency diploma (GED)    
  • Preparing for industry assessments or WorkKeys tests

Courses are available in Clay, Kemper, Lowndes and Noxubee counties. Classes feature group and individualized instruction with computer-based reinforcement. Course duration is typically 40 to 80 hours. Various classes meet two to five days per week, for three to five hours per day.

Course pre-registration and student orientation is required. The five-hour orientation session includes reading, math and language assessments so that our staff an build an individualized study plan for you and recommend ABE course placement.

Launch Pad participants must be residents of Mississippi, at least 16 years old and not enrolled in secondary school. Proof of age and withdrawal from high school may be required.
