What is Tech Prep?
The East Mississippi Community College Tech Prep Consortium originated in 1991 and is composed of EMCC and eight local secondary districts, five secondary career/technical centers, and ten secondary high schools. Counties included in the consortium are Clay, Kemper, Lauderdale, Lowndes, Noxubee, and Oktibbeha. The mission of Tech Prep is to connect students through career pathways to be globally competitive lifelong learners. TECH PREP is transitioning from the original school-to-careers program model to focusing on the Redesign plan for schools in Mississippi. In each Mississippi community college there is a Tech Prep Coordinator that works with the secondary schools in that district to provide teacher, counselor, and administrative support to the Redesign sites.
