OH, SAY CAN YOU SEE … ?
The EMCC Reflection Singers, under the direction of EMCC choir instructor Wendy Smith, sang the national anthem April 24 at Trustmark Stadium in Pearl before a Mississippi Braves baseball game against the Chattanooga Lookouts. The Reflection Singers auditioned for the spot in 2006, when they created their own rendition of the national anthem. They’ve had a standing invitation at Trustmark Stadium ever since; this year marks the group’s third appearance. n Photos: Take me out to the ball game! |

20th ANNUAL INDUSTRY APPRECIATION LUNCHEON
Gray Swoope, executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority, was keynote speaker at the 20th Annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon, held April 15 at East Mississippi Community College’s Golden Triangle campus. A Clay County native, Swoope said it will take strong relationships between the public and private sectors to recover in these tough economic times: “I’m spending a lot of time on the road right now. I’m relentless in building those relationships.” The luncheon was attended by hundreds of business and industry leaders, elected and state officials, and community leaders. And, as always, EMCC presented annual awards to people whose leadership sets the pace in the Golden Triangle.
