INTERPLAY OF LIGHT AND COLOR …

More than 50 oil paintings by East Mississippi Community College art instructor Terry Cherry are on exhibit at Meridian Community College’s Ronald R. Miller Art Gallery. The exhibit opens with a reception Aug. 24 from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. – and will remain on display until Sept. 17. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The paintings were all done on location around the artist’s home, and focus on light and color. "I painted the same scenes at different times of the day and in different weather conditions,” Cherry said. “This was quite a new experience for me since I have been a studio painter most of my career. Painting from the actual scene is all-consuming as the surroundings – weather, bugs, heat – all become factors in my expression." For information, call John Marshall at (601) 484-8647
or e-mail jmarshall@mcc.cc.ms.us.
